Class Review

   Today in class, we had a little review on the unit we've been working on. My shadow was very involved in the conversation and answering questions. This was interesting to see because usually shadows don't participate as much. Anyways, Mr. Schick told us that even though our middle school teachers might have told us that using Wikipedia is terrible, he thinks that is a great source to use and that the information on it comes from many websites/articles. Mr. Schick told us that Wikipedia is a very thorough and a mainly accurate source to use, but would never be cited as a primary source on research because encyclopedias can never be a primary source for research!! Then, he talked about the struggles of writing research papers in college because he had to use a typewriter. If you forgot to add even one paragraph, you would have to re-write the whole thing. There was no such thing as going back and writing in something, because the typewriter was not digital. There also was no autocorrect, so if you made a mistake, you could go over the letter again in white, and then in black, but if it was a whole word, then you probably wouldn't be able to fix it. Overall, it was a good class; we reviewed some important terms, listened to a couple stories, and heard my shadow answer some of Mr. Schick's questions.
