New Project

   Today in class, we were assigned a new project that will be a speech /oral speaking assignment. We were first gathered into groups which we could not decide. Mr. Schick chose four "team captains" who then took turns choosing people from the class list paper (so that people wouldn't get offended if they were chosen last). There are about four or five people in each group and our task started by choosing two countries- one which is pre-developed and one which is post-developed. Now, we must research those countries (using the CIA World Factbook), find a problem in those countries, and give a possible solution to the problems. In my group, our pre-developed country is Tanzania and our post-developed country is Italy. We did not get much started today; we just made a google slides presentation, wrote a title, and put pictures of the countries on different slides. So far I think we're off to a good start, and I hope that my group will put in a lot of effort and focus into this project so that we can get a good grade on it.

In Ancient Greece, dramas were performed as a form of art, just like plays in our society today. Dramas back then would focus on leadership, justice, and duties owed to the gods. There were two types of drama in Ancient Greece. A tragedy is one type. Tragedies were serious dramas about common themes such as love, hate, war, or betrayal. There were usually main characters and tragic heroes. The tragic hero had what is called a "tragic flaw". This is what causes the downfall of this hero. Thoughts on Mr. Schick's Blog

   On yesterday's Western Civ. blog post, Mr. Schick posted a bunch of his thoughts on aspects of cyber school. One thing he mentioned in his list was accountability. During this time away from our regular school environment, we are finding that students really need to step up by focusing on doing our assignments with our 100% effort, by realizing the importance of doing our own work, and trying our hardest to manage our time so that we get our work done efficiently. I would completely agree with this. From my point of view, I am finding it harder to get my work done efficiently. Not only do we have an increased workload of schoolwork, but we have to give it our all and try our best on these assignments, with all the difficulties surrounding us. To be completely honest, I find myself wanting to just look up the answers to my work, but then I realize that I need to truly understand the subject/topic we're learning.
