More on Demographic Transition

   Today in class, Mr. Schick gave us a diagram with a mini chart to copy down in our Human Geography notebooks. It looks like this:

It helped a lot to use colored pencils when I was drawing this because it helped me understand it better and make it more organized. I think Mr. Schick read my blog from last night because he gave us this diagram "for visual learners", and I said in my blog that I like diagrams because I am a visual learner. After we drew this, Mr. Schick asked the class which video out of the three we watched yesterday we liked the best. Most people voted for the Khan Academy video (including me), two people voted for the video from Kim Smith, and one person voted for the "Why Populations Grow" video from the guy with the Australian accent. Since most people voted for the Khan Academy video, we watched it as a review for the test this Monday. If I study from this and the video, I think I will do good on the test/quiz. Finally, we helped Mr. Schick pick out Christmas gifts for his wife and daughter on Amazon. He also showed us these fancy gardening gloves which were cool.

In Ancient Greece, dramas were performed as a form of art, just like plays in our society today. Dramas back then would focus on leadership, justice, and duties owed to the gods. There were two types of drama in Ancient Greece. A tragedy is one type. Tragedies were serious dramas about common themes such as love, hate, war, or betrayal. There were usually main characters and tragic heroes. The tragic hero had what is called a "tragic flaw". This is what causes the downfall of this hero. Thoughts on Mr. Schick's Blog

   On yesterday's Western Civ. blog post, Mr. Schick posted a bunch of his thoughts on aspects of cyber school. One thing he mentioned in his list was accountability. During this time away from our regular school environment, we are finding that students really need to step up by focusing on doing our assignments with our 100% effort, by realizing the importance of doing our own work, and trying our hardest to manage our time so that we get our work done efficiently. I would completely agree with this. From my point of view, I am finding it harder to get my work done efficiently. Not only do we have an increased workload of schoolwork, but we have to give it our all and try our best on these assignments, with all the difficulties surrounding us. To be completely honest, I find myself wanting to just look up the answers to my work, but then I realize that I need to truly understand the subject/topic we're learning.
