5.  What areas of life did Hammurabi's Code cover?

Hammurabi's Code covered everything that affected the community, including family relations, business conduct, and crime. Hammurabi's Code covered principles like the principle of retaliation and the principle that government had a responsibility for what occurred in society. These set of law/codes were made by collecting a bunch of existing rules, judgements, and laws into the Code of Hammurabi. It was formed in order to help unify the diverse groups within Hammurabi's empire.

Ancient Greece Powerpoint (Continued)

   Today in class, we spent about 20 minutes talking about this famous painting of a pipe. There were written words at the bottom that translated to “This is not a pipe.” This is interesting because our minds would think “well, of course it’s a pipe!”, but the point of this is that it is not really a pipe. It is a painting of a pipe. Looking at it from the computer, it is a painting that was duplicated/replicated onto the screen using our technology. So, no, there was no pipe; it was just a picture/drawing representing a pipe. Ancient philosophers found this interesting and many people found this strange. The philosopher who drew this wanted people to think about what was really being presented in front of them. This is why Mr. Schick wanted to share this with us today. After this, we went over more of the Ancient Greece Powerpoint. While Mr. Schick talked about the slides on the board, we took notes in continuation of our other ones for this powerpoint. Population Pyramids

   Today in class, we watched a TED-Ed Youtube video on our laptops on Population Pyramids. We have talked about them before, but this gave a further explanation. Here is a picture of the current (2019) World Population Pyramid: Here are the important notes I wrote down when I watched the video: A population pyramid is a visual representation which has males and females on opposite sides.  It shows population in each five-year age interval. (starts from ages 0-4 and ends on age 100 and up) Age intervals are grouped together into pre-reproductive (ages 0-14), reproductive (15-44), and post-reproductive (ages 45 and up). Population pyramids can be very useful when predicting future population trends. You can predict whether a country's population will increase or not.
